This table shows how the Manaiakalani pillars of practice link up with the refreshed NZC. It’s been really useful to see how what we’re already doing connects to the new curriculum. The pillars give us a clear framework, and setting them alongside the NZC makes it easier to see how the tools we use support what we’re aiming for in the classroom.
I’ve noticed a real change in students’ attitude towards maths. They’re more confident, willing to take risks, and actively engage in tasks, showing a much more positive mindset than before.
Thank you for sharing your thoughtful reflection on Day 9 of the Maths Practice Intensive, Andrea. It's wonderful to hear how the Manaiakalani pillars of practice are providing a strong framework for you and that you've noticed such a positive shift in your students' confidence and engagement in maths. Your plan to share the Gemini tool with your syndicate is a great idea.

Kia ora Andrea,
ReplyDeleteIt’s so wonderful to hear about the positive shift in your students’ attitudes: their growing confidence, willingness to take risks and engagement really shows the difference your teaching makes. Congratulations on completing MPI! It’s been an absolute pleasure having you in the programme, and I can’t wait to see how you continue to nurture your students’ love for maths and put your MPI learning into action next year!
